Jalpha Ltd. ("Jalpha," "we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in Hong Kong, operates the Jalpha mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a high-quality, safe social and educational environment.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. By accessing or using the Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility and Age Restrictions
We strictly adhere to the laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which we operate.
General Age Requirement: The Service is generally intended for users who are at least 13 years old.
Compliance with Local Laws (e.g., Australia):If you reside in a jurisdiction where the minimum age for using social media or online services is higher than 13 (e.g., Australia's legislation prohibiting social media use for individuals under 16), you must meet that specific age requirement to use Jalpha.
Strict Enforcement: If we determine that you do not meet the minimum age requirement applicable to your location, we will immediately suspend or terminate your account and delete your personal information in accordance with applicable laws.
Tutors: Users applying to be Tutors must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction) and capable of forming a binding contract.

We collect information to verify identities, facilitate high-quality matches, and maintain community standards.
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
Account Data: Username, email address, password, and date of birth.
Profile Information: Photos, bio, educational background, teaching experience, and subjects of expertise.
Identity Verification Data (Tutors Only): To maintain the integrity of our platform, Tutors are required to provide government-issued IDs, academic certificates, or professional licenses.
Note on Data Minimization:We do not permanently store your raw identification documents. Once our internal team or automated systems have verified your status, the original files are permanently deleted from our servers. We retain only the verification status (e.g., "Verified") and necessary audit logs (e.g., a hash of the document) for security purposes.
User Content: Text posts, photos, comments, and other content you generate on the platform.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
Device and Usage Data: IP address, device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and data regarding your interaction with the Service (e.g., timestamps, clicks, browsing history) to help us optimize our algorithms.
Location Data: We may derive your approximate location from your IP address to ensure compliance with local laws (such as age restrictions) and to provide relevant tutor matches.
2.3 Payment Information
We do not collect or store your full credit card numbers or banking information. All payments are processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe or Airwallex). We only receive transaction confirmation and status updates.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
Service Provision: To create accounts, facilitate tutor-student matching, and provide customer support.
Identity Verification & Safety: To verify the authenticity of Tutors, prevent fraud, and ensure the safety of our community.
Content Quality Control: Jalpha is dedicated to maintaining a "High-Quality Social" environment. We use your data and content to monitor, review, and remove content that is deemed low-quality, offensive, unintelligent, or strictly violates our Community Guidelines.
Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, including age verification and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
4. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following situations:
Service Providers: With third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting via Supabase, identity verification, payment processing), subject to confidentiality obligations.
Legal Requirements: If required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency like the eSafety Commissioner in Australia).
Business Transfers: In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company.
5. Data Retention and Security
Security Measures: We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures (including SSL/TLS encryption) to help protect your personal information.
Retention Policy: We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes.
Deletion of Sensitive Data: As stated in Section 2.1, identity verification documents are deleted immediately after the verification process is complete.

Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your account at any time via the "Settings" menu in the App. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed from our active databases, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain records (e.g., transaction history).

7. Content Discretion and Disclaimer
Content Moderation: To maintain the high standards of our platform, Jalpha reserves the absolute right (but assumes no obligation) to review, refuse, or remove any content that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be inappropriate, low-quality, or harmful to the community atmosphere.
No Warranty: The Service is provided on an "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of Liability: Jalpha is a platform for social interaction and matching. We do not employ the Tutors and are not responsible for the conduct of any user on or off the Service. We expressly disclaim any liability for controversies, losses, or injuries arising from offline interactions or tutoring sessions between users.
8. International Data Transfers
Jalpha Ltd. is based in Hong Kong. Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Hong Kong or other countries where our servers are located. By using the Service, you acknowledge that these countries may have data protection rules that are different from those of your country. We will take all necessary steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy.

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
